Like An Archeological Dig

 

One of the best things about Cali is Indoor Outdoor Living.  The doors are always open, the in is out, the out is in.  The first iteration of the studio bathroom floor, Annie stenciled various leaves on the lightly dirty color of the bare concrete.  That came from the real leaves that get blown into the studio and stay for awhile until swept up.  She wanted that same feeling in the bathroom.

It was a time for a change.

Four color “silkscreen-y” tile look.  Painted with the fingerbrush.

There was to be a border that separated the wall from the floor.

The last tiles done.

At the last moment, the border was scraped off.  Not all of it.  It’s ragged.  The floor’s got this feeling now of an archeological excavation.  A reveal of past layers.

In another iteration.  Courtyard needed to be finished with a tiny roof.

Beginnings of a copper gutter for it.
