Three views from the Cajon

I'll get to some photos of the chair later.  I was hoping to show more by this time but yes, there's been supply chain issues!  Ok, I was the supply chain issuer of the issue but still, been dead in the water for the past 10 days.

Finally, the music is coming back.

Last night.

I sit on a Cajon mainly when I try to make rhythmic noises.  These were my three views from the seat.

Right, back to the cottage.  Left, looking toward the street. Straight ahead was John.

Chair process photos.

Four forms were made for the four elements of the bends.

They're being formed by bent lamination so the Ash was resawn to right around 3/32".

Here's the current thinking on doing that.  It's been a radical shift away from my normal process of resawing which was a low fence, no featherboard and sawing a very thick piece of wood that because of it's weight retains stability.

Now, it's a high fence and an equally tall featherboard.

A grouping of the thin wood is glued and put into a vacuum bag.

They come out much stronger than they appear for how thin the stack is.  It's close to 1/2" thick.

These two show a big screw up of mine of which maybe no one can see except for me.

I have two more to glue up which is part of the supply chain issue. and I am stopping until I can have all the needed elements done before the next step.
So Adiós until next time.

I know! Let's make a chair!

Well, we're down to one car at this point but the 500 holds a surprising amount of wood.

Plans drawn mostly freehand.  I am going to bend the wood so these will be forms I bend it around.

Cut it up and transferred to the template material.

Ash.  This will not be a grain forward piece but a form and shape piece.

All for the moment.  Stay tuned.

Putting the house in order

Early morning light.  0625 hour.

I start to construct the kitchen light unit.  I kept some basic tenets from the first time I did this and really found it beneficial to build it a second time.  Take what you learned from the first and apply to the second.  It's a good exercise.

Hang the mounting board from two SkyHi Combos.  On dollys.

Start to figure out what goes and where it goes.

Put up other elements on C-Stands which allow positioning for composition purposes.

Wire stuff together.

Ok, this is strange but it appears I didn't take one install photo.  Must have had my reason for that.

But here's one right afterward.

Also been cleaning the place up, getting it ready for the future whatever that might become.

Shelves cleaned and polished, Cast iron arranged.

Light always Comes from Within

Put in a living room light at the same time.

Overall the light is fairly dark so I'm going to need something more.....must think.

The Growth

Or maybe Wisdom.

Or maybe It's the Arc.

I know for sure though, it is something.  Maybe it's Age.

I am liking how the four new lights hang together.

Or maybe it's Change.               A most precious Ken Kalman piece.   See more here

And one more.  Right after being picked from the Courtyard Garden and right before cooking.

Ok, I give up with Word Press and adding a photo as an afterthought.  This should go up higher in the post but....whatever.  This one is being difficult.
